What You Should Know About Your Peugeot Key Fob

Keyless Entry
As well as unlocking and opening the doors of your car, some key fobs also have the ability to start the engine. This is useful in the event that you have to leave the vehicle on hot days or if you're carrying heavy items in the trunk that make it difficult for you to open the door manually. Key fobs can be damaged by water - especially in the event that the chips inside are exposed to soapy or salty water. In some cases the chip that is damaged can cause key fobs to cease working. Remote Start
You can start your car and not need to have your keys on you. This is especially useful when it's hot and you want to cool your car while running on errands. However, there are some important things to be aware of prior to using this feature.
Certain key fobs have a remote engine start button that you can use to start your car remotely (for instance, Ford has a circular arrow that is moving clockwise on its key fob). Mazdas, for instance, require you to first lock the key and then press the Start button.
If you're unable to start your car, it could be that you have a weak or dead battery in the key fob. This is due to the fact that the key fob's batteries aren't able anymore to send a strong signal to the car's system.
If this happens, you'll need to either replace the batteries or re-program your key fob. The procedure varies for each vehicle, but the instructions are usually in the owner's manual. Door Locks

Immobiliser
Peugeot was one of the first manufacturers to install an immobiliser inside a key. The chip prevents the car from starting if it sees an incorrect signal being sent from the key to the car. G28 starts with an alert stating 'anti theft system active on the dashboard or a warning light is flashing with the message "immobiliser fault".

Peugeot keys typically begin to malfunction when the blade begins to wear out. This wear causes the mouth of the key to stop entering the lock correctly leading to wear on the locks themselves.
